Elizabeth Mosier
Elizabeth Mosier is the author of the novel, My Life as a Girl (Random House), and numerous short stories and essays, which have appeared in magazines including Sassy, Seventeen, Child, and Poets and Writers.
She has taught fiction and nonfiction writing to audiences from elementary school to adult, in a variety of settings including Bryn Mawr College, the Bennington College July Program, the Young Writers’ Day program, the Carnegie Mellon Institute for Talented Elementary and Secondary Students, and Swarthmore Writers’ Room.

What can we learn about writing fiction from re-reading our favorite stories? In this workshop, you’ll make a greater connection between the experience of reading and the process of writing through creative exercises inspired by published works. (3 hours)

In the college application, your high school transcript, recommendations, and SAT scores speak to your academic abilities -- but it’s your application essay that gives you an opportunity to reveal who you really are. In this workshop, you’ll learn to select the application essay question that’s best for you, and to reveal yourself with intelligence and style. (3 hours)
Writing Your Life: A Workshop on the Narrative Essay
In this workshop, we’ll discuss how the events of your life can become meaningful nonfiction writing, and attempt to translate the stories we tell aloud to the printed page. We’ll explore the choices a writer makes to organize and shape material through imaginative exercises that demonstrate how fiction techniques such as plot, description, and metaphor can make your non-fiction essays more lively and powerful. (3 hours)
